I have been using Headspace for over 6 months now, every day, and have noticed a big difference in my general wellbeing. I have had severe prolonged stress, alongside PTSD and OCD, and can honestly say that practising mindfulness on a daily basis definitely helps you to live more in the moment, where of course, you are not focusing on your problems so much.

Headspace allows you to train your mind to become more mindful, that whatever our problems are, there is always this “blue sky”, and over time we can learn to simply observe the thoughts that previously worried us. With this extra space, we can then begin to put things into perspective without them overtaking our lives.

The themed packs are also incredibly well thought out, providing extra mindfulness to lots of different areas of your life.

Science has proven that mindfulness works, and helps to re-train your mind to be more in the present and react less to thoughts that would have normally been much more problematic. These are the same thoughts that drive lots of fear and anxiety driven cycles, such as OCD, worry, panic, restless sleep and depression. Developing a sense of awareness is key to understanding these problems rather than simply ignoring or resisting them.

The irony is that the less we resist and simply let our minds be, it is almost by side effect that we gain this understanding of the thoughts and feelings we experience, and they seem to become less scary. We learn about them, and we become comfortable with them; allowing us to become more at one with our body and mind – and when this happens, we can enjoy the present more.

I highly recommended Headspace. It does what it says if you practise regularly, so treat yourself to some “you time” every day and download the Headspace App.
